Angels With Dirty Faces is a London based charity organisation whose main objective is to help mentally and physically disabled children and adults, and also to bring some sunshine into the lives of the old age pensioners in the London area. The charity was formed 40 years ago and its members have worked quietly and diligently to pursue their causes ever since.

In fact, founder member, Bob Paget, has a motto that goes like this - “Do someone a good turn, and don’t tell anybody about it.”

With the money that is raised by the Angels’, the organisation regularly take its beneficiaries out for daytrips and one of their favourite haunts is an amusement arcade (for the youngsters) and nightclub (for the pensioners) in Sheerness. The proprietor of these establishments, Thomas Holland, allows the younger ones to use the bowling alley for free, and he also lays on food and entertainment in his nightclub for the pensioners.

I have been a regular at their functions for many years, and recently I was asked to become their Press Officer. When the Angels’ get together to raise funds, everybody has fun. The photographs on this page were taken at one of their recent fundraisers, which took place at the Nags Head Pub in the Camberwell Road.

We sold the Sweet Fighting Man books and Bob ‘BF’ Williams auctioned off a load of sports memorabilia. The proceeds of the books, the memorabilia and the raffle went into the fund.
