The Pedro Amateur Boxing Club in Hackney, London

The Pedro opened their Amateur Boxing Club in September 2009

The driving force behind the Pedro Youth Club is none other than former European Super-Middleweight Champion, James Cook MBE.  It is due to his absolute determination to reach out to the youth of the Hackney area and instil a sense of respect in the young people on the streets.

The boxing club was always going to be inevitable at the Pedro and, now that it is here, James is the man to make it a success.

Secretary, Pat Sands says "We've refurbished the gym at a cost of 10,000, all of which was raised by voluntary contributions and, in James Cook, we've got someone at the help who knows what it takes to be a Champion."

James is backed by a strong team at the Pedro ABC, including Ian Napa, Derek Williams, Julius Francis and Sylvester Mittee.
